Acoustic folk, fingerpicked and plainspoken — shaped by home — the rivers, meadows, and mountains of North Idaho.
Our family always sang together — my dad taught each of us kids to sing harmony practically from the time we were in diapers. Then one afternoon my grandpa walked into a pawnshop and came home with a small Ovation guitar in need of a home. I was ten. I instantly adopted it and taught myself to play. At 13, I wanted to write songs so bad it hurt — but couldn't seem to figure out how.
By 17, I was finally writing songs — that you are never allowed to hear! They say you have to write 100 songs to get one good one. For me, it might be 200. I spent my later teen years singing with my family on the road, and the dream kept growing.
In my early twenties, I started writing love songs for my girlfriend. I got so excited about the songs and developing them that I missed the message and reason behind them. I thought I was ready — had a big career all mapped out in my mind.
That plan ended the way it needed to. It took walking away from the dream and refocusing on my family and faith. But still, the calling was there — like a destiny lying dormant in the soil of my soul, awaiting the right time to spring to life.
I owe so much to my wife Lizzie. She's my greatest fan and teammate in life — she is the inspiration behind everything I write and sing.
God's love has been the catalyst that daily helps me say no to my own selfish ambitions and yes to the things that really matter. It's a work in progress.
By day, I manage construction projects and thoroughly enjoy the work. But when the house goes quiet, the songs come out — I'm often up at 2 a.m., scribbling down whatever landed in my head while I was sleeping. Music means something different to me now. It's less about the stage and more about the story. Less about being heard and more about being honest.

"Jeffrey River is a singer-songwriter based in Sandpoint, Idaho. His music is acoustic folk — fingerpicked, rhythmic, and unhurried — shaped by the rivers and ridgelines of northern Idaho and influenced by writers like Andrew Peterson, Joshua Hyslop, and Hollow Coves. Debut single arriving fall 2026."
"Jeffrey River has been singing since he was three years old. He grew up singing with his family, picked up the guitar at ten, and wrote his first song at seventeen. After years away from music — and a necessary letting go of ego — he came back to songwriting with something real to say. Now based in Sandpoint, Idaho with his wife and four daughters, he writes acoustic folk songs in the early morning hours — fingerpicked and rhythmic guitar, melodies that move, and lyrics that try to make sense of faith, fatherhood, and the ache of growing up. Shaped by songwriters like Andrew Peterson, Joshua Hyslop, and Hollow Coves, Jeffrey's music is an invitation to slow down and sit in a feeling for a while. His debut single arrives fall 2026, with a first EP to follow in spring 2027."
